Science Explorers
Playful investigations of the natural world: air, bubbles, patterns, magnification, and hands-on experiments that turn everyday observations into big questions.
We don't ask children to become someone else to participate. We build learning experiences that make room for curiosity, agency, creativity, sensory needs, different communication styles, and real connection.
Sometimes the environment needs to change.
Emotional and sensory safety are foundations for learning. We prioritize relationships, predictable communication, and the freedom to take a break or participate differently.
Children have a voice in how they engage. We welcome movement, questions, experimentation, observation, and alternative ways of showing what they know.
We invite learners to investigate, make predictions, test ideas, revise their thinking, and follow the questions that matter to them.
We design with neurodivergent learners in mind, honoring sensory differences, communication preferences, varied pacing, and flexible engagement.
Our collaborative is parent-powered. Families bring their skills, interests, care, and lived experiences into a shared educational environment.
Our community is secular, LGBTQ+ affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming. Children and caregivers deserve to show up as themselves.
What happens when families help decide what learning looks like? You get a pretty incredible mix of ideas.
Families propose classes, clubs, and learning experiences inspired by their skills, passions, and their children’s interests.
Our community reviews proposals and upvotes the experiences they’re most excited about.
Families bring those ideas to life through collaborative, hands-on learning. Offerings evolve from year to year.
Our offerings evolve with the interests and talents of our families. Here are examples of classes and experiences we've offered.
Playful investigations of the natural world: air, bubbles, patterns, magnification, and hands-on experiments that turn everyday observations into big questions.
Middle school science for curious minds who love a good mystery. Through hands-on investigations, experiments, collaborative challenges, and evidence-based reasoning, learners practice asking big questions, testing ideas, and thinking critically. In Beast Brains, the goal isn't just to learn science. It's to think like a scientist.
Digital citizenship for real life: group chat kindness, online boundaries, privacy, gaming design, artificial intelligence, and self-regulation.
Open-ended LEGO building and collaborative design, with space for creativity, shared challenges, and independent tinkering.
In two groups for younger and older learners, kids explore different artistic styles through messy, imaginative, hands-on art experiences while discovering famous artists and their work.
Young entrepreneurs dream up and develop their own products, explore branding and marketing, and learn how to set prices and plan a small business. It all builds toward Semillas Market Day, when students set up their own 10×10 tents and sell their creations to the community!
A globe-trotting mashup of geography, travel, food, and cultural awareness. Learners explore countries around the world, discovering different places, traditions, and ways of life.
In two groups for younger and older learners, kids get moving through cooperative physical games, playful challenges, and opportunities to practice sports skills together.
Young heroes build confidence and learn practical, age-appropriate first aid skills, including how to respond to everyday bumps, scrapes, and emergencies.
Outdoor exploration, community gatherings, seasonal activities, and opportunities to learn through relationships and place.
Our homeschool collaborative gathers primarily outdoors. Natural spaces create room for movement, sensory regulation, exploration, and creative learning. We adapt plans when weather requires it.
A child may jump into a group discussion, observe quietly before joining, use movement to focus, or need space to regulate. We value engagement and growth without insisting that every learner demonstrate them in the same way.
