FOR PROSPECTIVE HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES

WHAT DOES JOINING LOOK LIKE?

Semillas Homeschool Collaborative is a parent-powered co-op, not a drop-off enrichment program. Here are a few helpful things to know before reaching out.

Do parents stay during co-op?

Yes. A parent or designated responsible adult stays on-site unless a particular activity is explicitly designated otherwise. Parents remain available to support their children’s individual needs.

Do I have to teach a class?

Not necessarily. Families contribute in different ways, including teaching, assisting, organizing events, setup, cleanup, and sharing skills. Our Helping Hands Hub helps coordinate responsibilities, and new families have time to settle in during their first semester.

How much are family dues?

For the 2026–2027 membership year, dues are $120 for families with one or two enrolled children age five or older, or $150 for families with three or more enrolled children age five or older. Dues are per family. Financial hardship support can be discussed privately.

What are the community’s inclusion and wellness commitments?

We are secular, neurodiversity-affirming, and LGBTQ+ affirming. The homeschool collaborative requires updated annual COVID-19 vaccination for eligible participating children and adults, with individual medical concerns discussed privately with leadership.

Where and how often do families meet?

The homeschool collaborative meets twice weekly, primarily in outdoor spaces generously shared by member families. Locations and plans may change with the weather; detailed schedules are shared with members.
